The Top Three Most Important Events In My Life

The Top Three Most Important Events In My Life.

Leaving a side the fear of taking risks, in some situations people make hard decisions because they don't feel realized and conformed with what life has given them, conditioning sometimes the life of their closed. Parents always are looking for the best way to face bad moments, trying to create a better environment for theirs children. Some of those decision can bring us good or bad experiences. Because bad moments in the economy in my country, my family have had to travel to a new country and that change has taught me great lessons. One of them was to thrust in my capacities. My life has been marked by diverse interesting and worry some moments , but the three most important are: my journey to a new country, the moment when I went back to visit my family and the repent and bad decision that I made about my studies.

The terrible economic situation, that has been affecting my country, through these years, has force to most of the families to choose a better way to progress. My parents weren't in a good part of the life, referring to the economy and focusing as main point the lack of jobs and low salaries. This is the principal motive for why we had to move from Ecuador to Spain. I knew the things were not going to be the same as before and that I had to get used to my new life and become more mature. I got so stressed each time I thought about having to travel that I hardly could sleep and broke out getting fat. My life in Spain was not easy because I had to learn a new language called Catalan, start making new friends, get used to the environment, the people, their customs and traditions, and live far away from my family, that was a new and hard experience, not easy to swallow. This is one of the most important events of my life because it changed a part of me, changed my way of thinking and observing the world from a different perspective.

Although I have experienced complicate situation, the journey has bring me unforgettable and good moments . After have stayed for a long time in Spain and have received the fabulous news of have got the permission of residence, my family made the decision of going back to Ecuador for vacations. I was completely happy that I couldn't stop calling my friends and planing what we were going to do there. It is hard to see passing the years without being next to your dear family. When I arrived to my neighborhood, obviously, nothing was the same as before. The first week I feel uncomforted because there was not the same confidence with my family as before , such as the old jokes, to use the things of the house without permission such as turn on the TV or use the radio, but bit by bit those shiny moments were disappearing. I knew that weird experience were because of year of absence and I had to handle with it. The next weeks were really tremendous for me. Those were full and fascinating weeks of sharing great moments with the family as never before. We went to some tours around my country, visited interesting and important places and ate delicious food that we hadn't eaten for a long time. The time that I spent with my friends were fantastic fun moments. We went to a lot of parties, shared jokes and we had moments where started telling our experiences. Definitely it was the most amazing and memorable vacations ever.

My life has been not just full of fun and great moments, but it has had hard and anguishing situations. My life as an student during my stay in Spain was hard . The principal reason was the language. Catalan was an unknown language for me, and learn to use it really scared me. The first years in school was not too difficult because the first three years the government didn't force me to use it and take the classes in Catalan, so my studies at that moment were moving well. The nightmare took place when I had to begin my two last years before going into college. In those years I was supposed to be capable of writing and speaking Catalan as well as possible, but I couldn't because I though that it was not going to be productive. Also it was not going to be useful in the rest of the Spanish provinces. That is why I didn't pay the necessary attention to it. By then I felt desperate and frustrated so my family decided to move to Madrid, to a new house, new neighborhood, new life . I knew the studies were fantastic in there but I didn't feel comforted. I noticed that my sister and mom didn't feel good living in there and because of that we decided to go back to Palma de Mallorca. I knew that was time to do my best, after had observe the huge effort ans support that my parents and sister had done for me . The same month I applied for high school and I passed everything, even the class of Catalan. I couldn't believe it. All this problem, that I had set up and complicate the life of my family and me, was just because of my lack of self-confidence.

In conclusion, life is hard to handle. You never know what the destiny is going to bring you and how is going to modify your life. Sometimes that modification comes with good purposes for your life and sometimes for bads. The decisions that people have to choose in some difficult and desperate moments of life are not the good ones to follow and make, you should think twice before choosing a good one that help you to get ahead in life.

How Music Has Influenced My Life ?

How Music Has Influenced My Life ?

Nowadays you can listen to music from all over the world, in different styles, languages, with a huge variety of arguments, ideas and purposes. Music does not only make the singers rich, but it can enrich the knowledge of their fans, giving them a different way to express emotions and feelings that in some moments are difficult to draw out. Music has influenced my life in three ways. It has helped me to be more sociable, has provide me a way to show my feelings, and has helped me relax in stressful times.

A long time ago, when I was a child, listening to music really didn't entice me very much. I just used to listening to it for fun, or sometimes for projects, like dance performances in the school on important dates. Since childhood being sociable has been hard for me, especially when I arrive to some place where I don't know anybody and I have to start a conversation with new people. That really used to terrify me because I couldn't find a good excuse or argument or topic to keep a long conversation to be friendly with them. But since I began paying more attention to listening to music, I noticed those scary and shameful situations have become easy to handle. I noticed that change during my stay in Spain. Most of my friends had never heard the kind of music that I used listen to, so they were interested in it and used to approach me more often to exchange songs and have a discussion about singers. By then, through the days, I gained more confidence with them, so we used to have fun going to my musical environment, such as Latin discotheques where they played bachata, reggaeton, merengue and salsa.

Music not only has reinforced my social skills, but has shown me a new and easy way to express my feelings. Due to my lack of expression of my feelings for someone, in some occasions, I started using music to provide a solution for that problem. On some specials days, such as mother's and father's day, or some closed person's birthday, I had never had a beautiful way to express my real feelings for them because I was ashame of looking ridiculous. So, here is where music help out place. Last year, on my mother's special day, I had no idea what sort of gift give her. I spent a whole day seeking for a great present, but it was worth to wait because I heard about a singer that she like it very much, so I decided to buy the CD for her with a necklace that I had bought it for this moment. And when she unwrapped it, suddenly she burst into tears. I never had had this experience with her. Since that day I learned people conform with a minimum detail always that it come from the bottom of the heart.

Throughout the world there are hundreds of styles of music with different rhythm; some are smooth, others noisy, are used for different purposes. In my case, sometimes, I use soft music for relaxing. In few and hard moments of my life, there have been stressful hassles, such as some arguments between my parents or friends and bad news, that have made me feel a mix of anger and nervousness. In those moments I needed to listen to music to avoid getting out of control and to calm down. Two years ago, when my parents, after had received a call from my aunt, had a conversation about something secret in their room, however I was begin the door trying to overheard it. Those were bad news about my closed uncle, I saw it on my mom's face that sometimes wrong had happening. He had got a serious illness, cancer. I was really worried about that because they saw me growing up and had taken care of me during my childhood. Avoiding reality, I locked myself in my room and stared listening to music to alleviate the stress and the big worrying that I got.

Music, besides producing money for singers, has another purposes: to help people to settle some personal problems. Thanks to music, some people have could express their feelings and therefore become more sociable and expressive.

Censorship

Censorship

Do you agree with the authorities prohibiting the publication of music, books, films or pictures? In many countries cases have occurred in where a lot of the productions of famous and infamous writers, photographers, directors, and singers have been banned. Many have been the reactions of the society, some in favor of censorship and against it. There are three censored cases that have interested me. They are about a controversial sculpture, a book and other about a film.

Nowadays, the laws have strengthened theirs rules and as consequence have become strict when it comes to making decisions about censoring. One case of censorship took place in Sacramento, California, in July of 2000. Parents, who were attending the event of Advanced Training Institute International, got offended by the naked Statue of Poseidon. This monument, which was a gift to the city from the government in Greece in 1972, was being shown in a public park between the Sacrament Convention center and a community theater. Parents complained about the situation to the City Officials. The decision that the City Officials remitted was to give the permission to the parents to clothe the statue during the three-day conference. The justification that one of the leaders of the convention, Steven Hammond, gave to resolve this problem was that the home-schooled students help the community economically and for that reason it wouldn’t be a wise choice to be against them. However, not all Sacramento residents were sided with the officials, and during the event, the Poseidon’s clothes were continuously taken off by people. In my opinion Poseidon’s statue shouldn’t have been clothed, despite that it was just for a few days, because I think that nowadays the people have open minds and can handle this situation and also because it seem to me absurd to have to put some clothes on a statue just to please a few privileged people.

Not only sculptors have been affected by case of censorship, but also books. A particular case occurred in Newman, California, on October 2008 at Orestimba High School. The book “Bless me, Ultima” by Rudolfo Anaya, tells the story about a Latino boy reconciling his thoughts about American Indian religious traditions and Roman Catholicism. It was banned after a parent complained about it because it seemed to be anti-Catholic. The Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District held a meeting to discuss about the banned book. The decision was, without anyone having read the book, to ban it and return it. Some people like Tony Spears, president of the local chapter of American Civil Liberties Union, disagreed with the decision and explained that there is neither book nor newspaper article that couldn't be offensive to the people. In my opinion, publishing a book with an argument contrary to the way of thinking of people who read it and disagree with its idea, doesn't mean that those books have to be banned, reading those books with a different point of view would be beneficial for reinforcing students’ cultural knowledge, clearing theirs beliefs and teaching them to be critics of their own ideas.

In addition to the US' civil rights, Chinese’s right have been limited. This case took place in China, in 2007, where the movie “Lust, Caution”, directed by Ang Lee, was censored. That situation occurred because the movie, which tells about an intricate story of love, set in Japanese-occupied Shanghai the 1940s, had violent and sexually explicit scenes. The State Broadcasting Film and Television Administration made the decision to order the producer of the film to cut the 30 minutes of sexual and violent action, to prohibit the production of the movie on television and just produce it on theaters after cutting the censored part of it. The justification the Chinese Authorities gave to the producers was to prevent the young viewers from watching it because of its graphic sexual content. The director was pleased with the authorities because they permitted him to modify the film by himself instead of censor it at all. The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television affirmed that the movie shouldn't be shown to children or adults. The Chinese censors permitted the production of “Lust Caution” in Chinese movie theaters at the end of 2007 after cutting over 30 minutes of sexual content. In my opinion the decision was made correctly because this kind of movie with explicit sex shouldn't be produced on television or theaters because could show a bad image of the country and also could be tentative for young viewers.

Censorship is a system, promoted by laws of each country, whose work is try to avoid or prohibit acts and productions out of rules that could offend or make society feel uncomfortable. In conclusion, censorship doesn’t have come influencing just to a reduced part of the world or a specific number of people with different way of thinking, but it has spread throughout the world conditioning people’ ideas and knowledge.
